This is literally the worst novel I have ever read. It seems as though what we've been given to read is the initial rough draft of an extremely amateurish first attempt at a first novel. I'm going to just assume this book is self-published because no self -respecting professional publishing house would allow this atrocity to be released under it's name. Semi-tractor trailers could be driven through the plot. There is no attention paid to detail. The dialogue is plodding because the author seems to have made a decision to write without using contractions, but slips up occasionally. It's unnatural. The writer's research into all aspects of the story seems to have consisted of watching reruns of Diagnosis Murder, Matlock, and Marcus Welby, M.D. There is precious little understanding of common police procedure; no concept at all of how a pharmaceutical company would run. The author couldn't even come up with the names of the drug used to murder the victims - or its antidote because she did no research. The main character manages to conduct her investigation without ever interviewing the victim's' families. And then there's the atrocious grammar: verbs that don't match nouns, multiple tenses in one sentence, pronouns that don't match nouns. And let's not overlook the typos and the words that are missing altogether. There was potential for a good story here. It just needed someone with the skill to write it.

Deadly Secret Marcie Jackson Mystery Series Book 2 edition by L C Lang Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews

This book really captured my interest. Although there were some predictable spots, there were enough twists and surprises that kept me up very late reading. The only detractor
was that I believe she didn't know or research the setting very well.
Felt the dialogue was repeated in order to add pages, ie, who cares what the author ordered at McDonalds, Taco Bell or where ever, or where she placed her notebook, cell phone or even her shoes! Regret ordering all of her mystery ebooks at once instead of reading one and then ordering.....lesson well learned.
Annoying mistakes and bad grammar make this book a disappointment. I know it was cheap and the plot is sort of feasible except that it hinged mainly on a slack forensic department. But I found the mixing of past and present tenses in the same paragraph very annoying. The author should get an experienced writer to rewrite her plots to see how it should be written. And please use a proof reader to avoid the obvious mistakes accepted by a spell checker.
Very odd writing style. Repetitive wording. Would not recommend for the serious reader. Not sure where plot was going. Sorry.
This is such a good mystery. Deadly Secret is a mystery that keeps you on your toes until the very end. You may think you have figured out who the killer is but it is a real twist. This book has twists and turns but they only make the book that much better. The evil characters in this book never truly let you know just how evil they really are. They all have their secrets. I hope everyone who reads Deadly Secrets enjoy the twists and turns just as much as I did in this mystery
I had a difficult time getting through this story. Author spent more time detailling her three meals per day and her clothing choices than the specifics of the crime or the characters. It left me wondering if she had a certain amount of words or pages to fill so she added unnecessary, insignificant material. Do I need to know she had cheeseburger or meatloaf or pizza or chicken nuggets? I already know she bought and drank a certain kind of soda? Did she have to repeat it multiple times If filler was needed she could have developed the characters or given the plot more depth.
Marcie Jackson is a twenty six year old Indiana State Police detective, sent on a special reassignment in Southern Indiana. She needs to solve the murder of a pretty student. As the girls friends start turning up dead, time seems to be running out and how many more bodies are there going to be found before the killer is stopped. This was a different kind of story but somewhat trying as Marcie works the case and "Takes a long drink of her Dr. Pepper", for the umpteenth time. I found myself skimming to get to the end to find out who done it. L. C. Lang tells a good story but draws out every little step and after a while it was not fun anymore. I don't think I would read it again.
